Almost all dogs are happy when being treated as subordinate members of the flock and obey the orders of all of the members of the human family with no complains. But some masters unconsciously teach their dogs that they are the real masters.
|
The bosses go through the doors first and their demands of comfort and affection are immediately fulfilled. |
ADVICE 405 |
When a dog is convinced that it is the boss of the flock, it is probable that it will use the aggressiveness to reinforce its domain. In order to correct this behavior, you may require the services of a professional dog trainer. |
The aggressiveness of each animal is based on the belief of being dominant, even when in other dogs this can be caused by fear. The methods to correct both problems are different, so you have to make sure you are using the right one. |
NO CONFORT |
ADVICE 406 |
Try to make the dominant dog wear a rope at home and order "get out" if it gets in your armchair. |
NO RISKS |
ADVICE 407 |
If you make the dog wear the muzzle or an adjustable head collar, you are making sure that the dog's mouth is closed, this subdues the dog and encourages it to obey orders. |
NO ANSWER |
Eliminate every manifestation of affection to the dog, at least for the moment. |
ADVICE 408 |
If you want your dog to obey you should do something on your own without paying attention to your dog. Ignore it until it stops asking and then order the animal to sit and caress it. The dog will soon learn that you are the boss at home. |
CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE |
ADVICE 409 |
You should clean the dominant dog at least once a day and make sure that its mouth is closed and wear a rope at home. |
ADVICE 410 |
You should oblige the dog to remain down for a long period of time twice a day and during, at least, three weeks. |
THE LAST ONE EATING |
In the world's flock, the boss always eats before its subordinates. Prepare the dog's food and show it to the animal but don't give to it until you have finished eating. |
ADVICE 411 |
During the re-adaptation weeks, don't reward the dog with food between meals. |
THE LAST ONE TO GO OUT |

|
ADVICE 412 |
Don't let your dog walk to the dog in front of you. Teach the animal that the boss goes out first and you are the boss of the flock. The dog must adjust its step to yours. |
THE BED IN AN OPEN SPACE |
When we are talking about a dominant and aggressive dog, it should wear the rope even when it is resting.
Define its area of sleep in an open space, not in a corner similar to a lair or another closed space.
|
ADVICE 413 |
Dogs feel more secure in their lairs and you shouldn't promote their confidence. |
SEARCH EXERCISES |
Exercise your dog in searching and bringing objects. This will teach it that you are the boss. The dog should wear a rope. |
MEDICAL INTERVENTION |
ADVICE 414 |
The aggressiveness of a dominant dog can be a serious problem. Ask for the veterinary's opinion since they may suggest a re-adaptation reinforced with medical supervision. |
