CHARACTERISTICS of the Bearded Collie Puppies |
Even though this is shepherd dog, it's been selected as a company animal many decades ago what caused it psychological development, even when it usually shows it natural aptitude for the guardianship every time it has the chance. |
Its likeness with the Bobtail -even though it is just by the color and the abundant coat - hasn't work in favor of its development. This breed came out once again thanks to a series of breeders who after having studied mating and elaborated selection programs have discovered to the world such singular personality of this member of the Collie family. |
As for the cares it requires, we highlight the following: |
ADVICE 556 |
Shower it the least amount of times, preferably every three or four months. Always using a neutral shampoo that doesn't moisture the hair. |
ADVICE 557 |
Once the animal is dry, you can put some spray on it so its hair won't raise; making possible to visualize better its dorsal line and its structure. |
ADVICE 558 |
It is important for the white parts of the dog -such as the beard and its surrounding area, the collar and the front parts of the extremities- not to turn yellowish. |
ADVICE 559 |
It is enough with mild dedication of a couple of sessions per week, each of them lasting approximately one hour for the animal to keep a neat look. |
ADVICE 560 |
We should pay special attention on keeping the coat from getting knots because this would complicate things a lot, especially if you get to the extreme of forming locks. Periodical brushing (every three or four days) is enough to avoid the previously mentioned danger. |
ADVICE 561 |
The brush is a very important accessory when it is time to prepare our bearded friend; you should always use brushes made of nylon. You can also use the metal ones, as long as they are hard and straight. |
ADVICE 562 |
You should definitely rule out the shear clipping of your dog. The coat, for the heat as well as for the cold, is the natural defense every dog has for protection. |
ADVICE 563 |
Always alert, lively, trustful and with an active temperament. This is an excellent working dog, with no trace of shyness or aggressiveness. |
DESCRIPTION of the Bearded Collie |
HEAD AND SKULL: |
The head is proportioned to the body, the skull is wide, flattened and square, the distance between the stop and the occipital should be equal to the width between the ear holes. |
EYES: |
They have the same color as the hair, placed pretty separated from each other, with a sweet and caring look. The eyebrows form an arch but they are not too long that hide the eyes. |
EARS: |
The ears have a medium size and they are fallen. When the dog is alert, it raises them from the base, leveled with the upper part of the skull but not over it. This gives the skull a wider appearance. |
