LACK OF CONCENTRATION
|
When the dog puppy loses the interest for the food prizes, try changing the food regimen, giving it less meals, but more abundant
ADVICE 248
When the food doesn't work, change the prize. A toy with sound or some object the dog likes will work.
STUBBORN
If the dog is very stubborn, help yourself with a leash in order to do the exercises. By giving small pulls to the leash, you will remind the dog that it should listen to you and obey you at any time.
SIT
When your puppy heeds your call, you can teach it to sit and lay down. The puppy must be attached to a leash to have it controlled in order to make this exercise right. As soon as you practice this routine successfully, your puppy will be capable to follow a sequence of orders for the first time.
Standing in front of your dog, get away with the leash in your right hand and some food in the left one. Show the puppy the food when you order it to come to you.
When the puppy gets to you, push your right hand forward slowly to the upper part of the puppy's head.
ADVICE 249
The puppy will instinctively sit to see the food, when you see the puppy begins to bend the rear paws, hurry up and give it the "sit" order.
You should give this order first in front of the puppy and then on its side. Reduce the food rewards little by little, at the end; it will be enough with the words.
When the dog doesn't want to sit
ADVICE 250
If the dog denies to sit; get on your knees next to the animal and grabbing it firmly with the right hand by the collar, bend its four paws with your right hand while you give the "sit" order. Then reward it with food.
LIE DOWN
Have the dog sit, get on your knees at its right side and grab its collar with your left hand. Holding a candy on your right hand put your hand on the dog's snout and lower it slowly to the floor.
When the puppy's snout follows the candy, move if forwards in front of its body. As soon as the puppy begins laying down, give it the "lie down" order.
Continue moving the candy until the dog lies down. Congratulate it and give it the food you have in your hand. Repeat this exercise until the puppy responds only to the words.

|
|
ADVICE 251
Get on your knees with the dog at your left side. Put both hands between the dog's forearms and raise its body to the asking position. From this position, lower it while you move it forward up to the laying down position and reward it with a candy or a treat.
If the dog stands up too fast
ADVICE 252
If the puppy tries to stand up before finishing the exercise, seize it slightly pressing it on the cross. After a couple of seconds, let it go saying in an authoritarian tone, "good" or "ok".
