DESCRIPTION of a |
It's a big sized dog, with a powerful and strong skeleton, notwithstanding a certain elegance. |
HEAD: |
Not very strong when compared with the size, the sides are pretty flat, slightly curved skull, well defined occipital protuberance; the back part of the skull is ogival. The widest part of the skull is the same as its length. It is joined with a slight inclination to a wide well length snout that thins out towards the tip. The slightly fallen lips cover the lower maxillas exactly, and are black the same as the palate. The nose is completely black. |
EYES: |
Small eyes, with an intelligent and thoughtful look, brown or amber. This well attached black eyelids with a slightly oblique position. |
EARS: |
Set at the level of the eyes, pretty small, triangular shaped, with a rounded tip; they fall flat on the sides, stuck to the head, raised slightly when the dog is alert. |
TEETH: |
Healthy and white, incisor with a scissor close; the top ones over the bottom ones and touching at all times. The tong bite is also permitted. |
NECK: |
Strong, not very short, with a little double chin. |
BODY: |
The chest doesn't fall excessively, its broad and deep. The ribs are slightly rounded. The back of a good length; wide & strong. The hindquarters are slightly at an inclination, with hips that stick out. Little descending flanks. |
FRONT EXTREMITIES: |
The front feet are straight, strong well built. The hind legs also have fringes, these are longer and more abundant (trousers). The thighs are round and not low. The hocks are strong and wide; they are together and slightly bent. |

BACK EXTREMITIES: |
The hind legs have a well formed double spur. |
FEET: |
A little long, compact, with partially arched toes. |
TAIL: |
Fairly long, thick and bushy, carried low when the dog is resting; preferably with the tip curved or raised over the back (like a wheel, like the mountain folk call it) when the dog is excited. |
HAIR: |
Thick, straight fairly long & flexible, longer at the tail and around the neck area, where it can curl slightly. The hair around the trousers is thinner and denser. |
COLOR: |
The characteristic color of these dogs is white or white with grey spots (white is actually a matt ivory). The spots can be grey, pale yellow or orange. These spots can be on the head, ears or the base of the tail; some dogs have spots on the body. The blue spots are the most cherished. |
SIZE: |
Males are between 70 & 80 cm and females are 65 & 72 cm. The males weigh around 60 kg and the females around 45 kg. |
