GROWLING |
ADVICE 149 |
Growling shows great aggressiveness. There are generally no fear signs on the dog when it growls. However, the fact that it is making such noise means that something is keeping it from biting.
|
If it were not like that, the required energy for the barking would be better used in the direct attack. The proximity of the adversary usually causes the continuous growling, which turns into a roaring right before attacking. |
WHIMPING |
It is motivated by the emotional discomfort. This type of manifestation is produced when the dog is deprived of something that doesn't directly satisfy the body, but some standard conduct that gives place to a very disgusting general anguish. |
SQUEAKING |
It is emitted without feeling any physical pain or getting suddenly scared. The frequency of the squeak will depend on the intensity of the sensation that causes it, considering the individual sensitivity. |
HOWLING |
It is more frequent of the wolf than of the dog. It is related with the sensations of loneliness and abandonment and even when it can be mechanically originated by the sound of some musical instruments or through the imitation of the howling sound, maybe the most similar human emission would be the desolation sobbing. |
THE RELATION WITH A CHILD |
IS IT DANGEROUS? |
ADVICE 150 |
The only thing that can turn to be dangerous in the relation of a dog with a child is the transmission of diseases. |
ADVICE 151 |
In order to avoid this, you have to educate the child and the dog and you will have to do this every time they are together. |
ADVICE 152 |
The child has to get used to wash their hands right after playing with the dog, especially before eating. |
ADVICE 153 |
You must not let the dog lick the child's face. |
ADVICE 154 |
The child must not chew the dog's ears or paws. |
ADVICE 155 |
The child should not eat from the dog's bowl or the other way around. |
If this happens, truth is that nothing will happen. The dog, as well as the child, are sterile beings. Many of the things the child touches during the day are more infected than the actual animal. |
ADVICE 156 |
We don't even need to say that the dog must be totally vaccinated and free of parasites. |
Insurance companies' make an estimating statistic about the incidence of accidents occurred among children and animals with consequences of injury or death: the dog occupies the first place. |
Almost always the cause is an inadequate behavior of the child in front of the animals that costs them their life or health. Some of the famous animals, stars on television shows, have part of the fault because they have some human qualities attributed. This has led the children to interpret the animals in a wrong way. |
ADVICE 157 |
Insurance companies estimate convenient for the children to begin knowing the animals correctly when they are three years old, which is another reason to have a dog. |
Of course, the dog can also scratch, push or bite the child, but it can also happen with other play mates. The fact that a bred dog bites a child is not very frequent; however, it is not impossible either. |

|
ADVICE 158 |
First of all, all puppies will always be the children's friends. Only a negative experience can teach them the contrary. |
ADVICE 159 |
They will turn into their enemies because of the influence of a wrongly educated child who doesn't know how to manage it, or simply, a bad or excessively mischievous child. |
ADVICE 160 |
For this reason, you should never buy your child an already bred dog, one that you don't know and that may have had a bad experience. |
In any case, you will have to consider the work a dog supposes. Even if the child promises they will take good care of the dog, by general rule, the tasks of higher responsibility such as the vaccination or the night walks will have to be performed by the parents. |
